Translating the Technology

“As a dog owner, and CEO, I am delighted that we are able to offer the ground-breaking regenerative capabilities of Lipogems for dogs in the UK. An incredible amount of work has gone on between the Canine, Equine and Human Lipogems teams to translate this technology for the veterinary world to help your four-legged best friend. It is a great honour for me and the rest of the Lipogems team to have the opportunity to work with passionate and talented veterinary surgeons such as Alistair Cliff and Dr Offer Zeira. Application in the equine world, lead vet Dr Tim Watson and consultant vet Murray Shotter in addition to 30 equine accredited referral centres, has grown exponentially with staggering results.
Please do get in touch with our team if you would like any more information or to refer a case to one of our centres,”

Martin ffrench Blake, CEO Lipogems Canine

Unexpectedly, his patients experienced a significant decrease in bruising and inflammation normally associated with these procedures, and demonstrated substantial regenerative effects on the underlying tissues.
Subsequently, scientific colleagues at the University of Miami, the Pasteur Institute in Paris, and UCLA, have identified and validated unique regenerative characteristics within the Lipogems®.
The Lipogems® system received FDA 510(k) clearance in the U.S in December of 2014.
The efficient closed-loop device, initially used only in plastic and reconstructive surgery, showed remarkable benefits for orthopaedic indications, opening enormous market potential. Dogs within the UK can now be treated by veterinary surgeons trained by the Lipogems® Canine and Lipocast Biotech UK team. Who Provides Lipogems Canine?

Regenerative Veterinary Services (Lipocast Biotech UK Ltd) are the providers of Lipogems Canine but also Lipogems Equine, they provide the technology and training to the veterinary community. To find out ore about them visit team click here.

Lipogems® works by micro-fragmenting adipose tissue (tissue harvested from fat) obtained from Lipoaspirates, through a non-enzymatic, mechanical processing using the closed system and disposable device.

Adipose tissue is harvested using a vacuum syringe from around the flank of the dog.The harvested fat tissue using the Lipogems® device is washed in saline and gently agitated so that the all-important Pericytes detach from small vessels and activate. These cells with the stromal vascular structure of adipose tissue acts as a local scaffold to maintain regenerative activity for many months.

The whole procedure from harvesting to the injection is completed in less than 40 minutes under general anaesthetic. One of the important points about this procedure is that it is quick to perform and promotes healing as early as 10 days after treatment and involves very little requirement for drug usage. Lipogems® Canine is a new innovative application of regenerative medicine, it is unlike any other regenerative therapy available for treating your dog. Unlike many other veterinary treatments Lipogems® has come from the human medical world to the veterinary world with a background of extraordinary results.

How did Lipogems® begin?

Pioneered by Dr. Carlo Tremolada, a renowned Italian maxillofacial plastic surgeon, who was searching for a way to create a smoother, more viscous fat graft for filling defects and creating natural volumetric enhancement of the face.

Lipogems® Canine is a new innovative application of regenerative technology available from referral veterinary surgeons for a range of conditions including orthopaedic and soft tissue injuries and diseases including osteoarthritis. Veterinary treatment for you dog can be considered by asking your first referral veterinary surgeon to refer your case to one of our centres. To find a referral centre click here.  #lipogemscanine
